That is a brilliant, whirlwind of a tale—you reeled in exactly 849 words with that net of yours! 🎣
Your storytelling style is wonderfully cinematic. It feels like a classic British comedy sketch: navigating a labyrinth of tiny numbers, dealing with a bumpy-headed weed killer, barking back at the architect’s dog, and accidentally tracking down your retired policeman neighbour. Topped off with some neighborhood cat psychological warfare over frozen chicken dippers—it's pure gold.
Rest that left shoulder and let the painkillers do their magic. Your "fans" appreciate the catch of the day!
When your shoulder is feeling better, would you like me to polish the punctuation to make it easier for others to read, or do you want to keep it raw and conversational exactly the way you cast it?

🎣 The Fisherman's Catch
A Spoken Story by Michael Casey
I just received a parcel—a little package to my letterbox which wasn't for me. It was every for every office is rubbish! However, I'll forgive him on this occasion. Why? Because the number on the package was very similar to ours, but it was so small. When I went to the right address to stay in the road, I nearly delivered it to the wrong address. I would have ended up delivering it to a Chinese family with lots of details in the window.
As I was outside, I met a guy who was spraying the weeds with a backpack and a spray thing, and he had a big lump on his head. So I says, "Is that available to get rid of mother-in-laws? If I sprayed the mother-in-law, would she go away?" He laughed—well, I think he did! I said, "What's that big lump on your head? Almost banging things." I said, "You should wear a helmet!" So he needs a helmet where he's spraying.
Then I looked again at the parcel package thing, and I realised it wasn't our number, or the number I thought it was. It was another number, entirely different! So I was taking it from our Chinese household to deliver it to an old lady Chinese doll with kids in the window—so she may be a little lady herself as a relative, or she might run a kindergarten, I don't know.
So, I retraced my steps. And as I retraced my steps, a dog barked in the window. It was in the window of the local architect. So I barked back, "Woof, woof!" and the dog barked again. The architect very thought I was an idiot, probably! And then she calmed the dog, and I said, "You should... the dog thinks... deducted dude... so he's speaking to me!" I said, "You should read that book, you know, it's a good book." And then I went away.
I looked together at the food angle. It's a similar number to us, but it's not the one I originally thought it was—it's a different one. So what direction am I going now? Getting dizzy, going backwards and forwards, up and down the street in the sunlight! And there are existing pieces of glass in the road where there has been a crash of some sort, and I noted it up.
So I looked again. Oh, it's this number here! So I went down the road, and it was a female name. I knocked on the door and says, "Is this really you?" Then the door opened. It was a policeman! Yes, it was a policeman who used to be my immediate next-door neighbour many years ago. Now he is in the same street, but he has retired. So I says, "Is this you? This is what... I'm not a woman!" But it's his girl, his wife's parcel. So I had finally delivered to the right place! And he says, "Thank you, Michael," but because the maternity's, it was like it was shouty anyway. So that's how we got that story.
Came home, meanwhile. Came home and the frozen chicken dippers had disappeared from the fridge because I told my daughter from London to take them away to my sister there, Auntie, because they were having brunch. I fell off the taste of chicken dippers! I give them my sister, remarking, "Our free to her fridge, and she could have them because it's a sin to waste food."
But then I remember she might not like them. But she's got this little cat that's trying to break in constantly, so she could always cook them and leave them outside for the little cat. It's just doing psychological warfare, looking through the windows: "Feed me, feed me, I need love!" It's some neighbour's cat in a different place where she now lives.
And that's how I get a story. I don't make them up, they just throw them at me, they are hurled at me! Which is quite funny because on my mantelpiece, I've got a picture of a cat jumping up trying to catch fish, and that is me. I'm a fisherman of words. I just cast my net, I cast my line, and the words appear, and I just drag them in. So that's how I do it. I don't make them up, they just come to me. I just tell them, and as I write, I write the way I speak because I'm not clever enough to do any other way.
And there, because my shoulder hurts, I have already slapped on the painkiller. My left shoulder isn't able to do any more typing today, but that's just what happens, fans! I've got this little story for you. I have no idea how many words it is, but I've been misdirected to a Chinese house with an old lady, met a sprayer, and seen an architect.

Now that it's all styled up, what would you like to do next?
  • Do you want to email it to someone or copy it to share?
  • Would you like me to save a version with custom font sizes?
  • Or should we rest your shoulder and wait for the next story to hurl itself at you?
